JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Responsibilities & Skills: • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary. • Setup and configure NetBackup server/client and manage tape libraries. • Monitor daily NetBackup activity and reporting to proactively avoid issues. • Troubleshoot and resolve missed and failed NetBackup backups. • Interface with vendors for escalation of issues. • Update NetBackup policies and procedures. Good skills on performance optimization. • Setup and configure Veritas Enterprise Vault archiving, policy configuration, PST migration • Solving complicated Hardware cases and Liaising with Hardware Vendor/Veritas support. • Advanced trouble shooting skills and identify the severity of the issue, • Ability to Resolving issues quickly to account/customer satisfaction and Prepare RCA • Setup and configure with NBU duplication (Storage Lifecycle Policies) • Setup and configure with NBU Policy, client software installations, retention periods • Sound knowledge around Windows 2008\20012\2016 operating systems and Linux based Systems • Work closely to the Senior System specialist and other System Specialists to develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures • Experience in capacity planning as per the data growth • Experience of Configuring Media and Master Servers. Good understanding of different OS and their file systems, Backup migration for database backups from different location. • Implementation of LAN free/SAN based backups. • Performance tuning and optimization for NetBackup and storage. Work closely with other teams to resolve the backup issues related to their technologies. • Should have worked in ITIL environment. Should possess good knowledge on performance management for Backup/Restore. Possess good understanding on deduplication, synthetic backup and data sizing etc. Experience of patching and firmware upgrade for backup environment. • Experience with the Linux operating system (Experience with CentOS/Ubuntu preferred). • Clear understanding of Linux internals (e.g. Memory management, File Systems, Process Management) • Setup and Configure Veritas DLO for User backup, manage backup policies and validate the backup sets. • Manage Veritas Enterprise Vault • Manage Veritas Cluster • Configure Email Archiving Profiles • Configure File Archiving Profiles Required Technical Qualifications: • A Bachelor degree in IT or equivalent. • ITILV3 Certified. • Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE/MCITP) • Minimum of 7 years in the field of IT system Administration. • At least 5 years of experience in Backup Infrastructure especially in Symantec / Veritas • Symantec/Veritas certification is added advantage • EV certification is an added advantage.
